Focus on the Family's® Orphan Care Initiative ?
Believing that all children deserve to grow up in a family, Focus on the Family launched the Orphan Care Initiative in the fall of 2006. The Orphan Care Initiative is designed to inspire, equip, and engage the body of Christ along with and through the Church to bring orphans into a Christ-centered family structure. We're working with churches to share the plight of the orphan, unveil God's heart for orphans, and help uncover their specific and individual place in orphan care.
Orphan Care Mission
Inspire, equip, and engage the body of Christ along with and through the Church to bring orphans into a Christ-centered family structure.
Orphan Care Vision
The body of Christ is zealously and actively caring for orphans globally.
Orphan Care Team
Mark Andre, Director of Orphan Care - Mark joined Focus on the Family in September of 2006. From the foster kids his parents took in to the kids he saw living in the streets on a trip around the world, Mark's heartbeat is for orphans. Through the years, Mark has been deepening his involvement in orphan care. Most recently, the Lord led Mark to Focus on the Family to lead this new initiative. Mark and his wife, Joan, are adoptive parents of three wonderful children - a son and twin daughters.
Katie Porter, Orphan Care Program Manager - Katie joined the Orphan Care Team in May of 2007. On a mission trip to Bolivia, she was confronted for the first time of life lived as an orphan. She is honored to be serving the Lord and children in this capacity.
