CHS is a state provider for the children waiting to be adopted in the foster care system.  There are approx 4000 children in the state of Florida alone waiting to be adopted.   Christian Family Builders is in the mist of developing a relationship with the CHS.   When requesting information please let them know that you were referred to them by us, Christian Family Builders.   We are trying to ensure participation for all our local conferences and workshops.

There are a few general pieces of information you need to know before going to the www.CHSFL.org website.

1. You must complete an intro class, basic background checks, and home study before you can start choosing a child from their profile.
2. From beginning to end this adoption process will take a family at the least 9 months,and around the 6 months your family will start the child selection process.  So the child you set your heart on today, might not be available in 6 months, please remember this.  
3. "Basically Free Adoption" There are many financial benefits from adopting from the state of Florida.   At the most, you are looking at an adoption to cost from $0 to $500.
4. Ask about the in state college scholarship and in state health care provided to your child. 
5. Since Children's Home Society is our local link to the children "waiting" in Foster Care,  keep in mind that this is not a "Faith-Based" group.   For whatever reason, you do not feel that you are getting all your questioned answered in a timely fashion, please contact us, so that we can provide you with another community based link.
